Climbing
- Costa Blanca - The
Guadalest Valley has some of Spain's best adventure
climbing. There is also easy access to many well
developed sports (bolted) crags such as Sella and
Toix. The
Guadalest
bolted routes (also good for bouldering)
are just 15 minutes away. The Puig Campana which
boasts classic mountain routes of all
grades is
only 40 minutes drive away.
Climbing is possible all year, even
on the mountain crags. In summer, although the heat
around midday can be fierce, climbing on North facing
crags is very pleasant as the humidity is usually
very low. It's also possible to climb morning and
evening even on South facing crags. Midday can be
spent at one of the fantastic local pools or
you could even do one of the classic local canyon
trips .
There
are several guide books to the area, the
best being the Rock Fax Costa Blanca guide.
Online topos are also available at www.compasswest.co.uk.
Compass West run week long climbing courses
and also offer guiding on an individual basis.
They are by far the most experienced climbing
school in the area.
There are several climbing shops
in the area. "Sprinter" at the Marina complex
close to Carrefour at Benidorm/Finestrat have
some products. There is also a good
climbing shop in Calpe. At the top end
of the main street. Boreal boots are priced
well. Whether you need an escape from work, from your online criminal justice degree program or from the day-to-day routine, renew yourself near nature- the adventure awaits! |
